Promoting New Writing In The North West

Lancaster's Spotlight Club is a live-writing venue in Lancaster, UK dedicated to bringing new and different writing, performers, readers and musicians to the stage.

Held in an upstairs bar at The Yorkshire House Pub the
atmosphere is informal and supportive. With a small
stage, full lighting rig and 24 channel PA Spotlight attracts,
  on
average audiences of 50 - 60 people so come early to
  get a
seat!

Spotlight has hosted a melange of the best in North West
original live-writing, comedy and music on the 3rd Friday
of each month since December 1995.

Spotlight encourages diversity and we welcome every genre of writing from the comic to the cosmic.

Now in its 13th year Spotlight continues its aim to give
a platform to established, new and aspiring writers.
The event is a forum for North West writers and
musicians to perform and experiment with new work.

Open Mic

Each Spotlight event opens with an Open-Mic session (8:45 - 9:15 pm) featuring six 5 minute spots open to anyone. As these are very popular, you might want to e-mail us to book an Open-Mic slot in advance.

Following the Open-Mic session, Spotlight showcases 4 different writers and 2 music acts featuring some of the best live-writing and musicianship in the region.

Lancaster Spotlight is funded by Arts Council England and supported by Lancashire County Council Arts and Lancaster City Council Arts & Events. Spotlight works in association with litfest.
