Performance Workshop
Friday February 19th

2.30 - 4.30pm at The Storey Creative Industries Centre,
Meeting House Lane, Lancaster LA1 1TH

Facilitator: Sarah Hymas

Develop confidence and skills to give engaging performances of your work.

This workshop will look at the importance of warming up, voice work and the power of movement and stillness. It'll be two hours of interaction, a little bit of physical exertion, interspersed with play, shouting and listening.

Please bring a piece of work, preferably memorised, comfortable clothes and an open mind to the afternoon.

Sarah Hymas has been writing for performance and performing her poetry and fiction for seven years, in collaboration with other writers, musicians and solo. She is also a puppeteer, and aspires to entertain all her audiences, whatever their age.

   Spotlight:

             the comic to the cosmic.

Hunting Originals


Spotlight is a cave of ideas, always on the hunt for new and experimental writers and performers at it's Open Mic spots.

On the 3rd Friday of every month the event gives a platform to poets, writers, comedians, ranters and musicians.

It's a dynamic platform on which a wide variety of aspiring writers are positively encouraged to experiment with words, music and performance.

 

 
Open-Mic

Each Spotlight event opens with an Open-Mic  session (8:15 - 8:45pm) featuring six 5 minute spots open to anyone. As these are very popular, you might want to e-mail us to book an Open-Mic slot in advance. Plus: Open-Mic performers are admitted half price!




Following the Open-Mic session, Spotlight showcases 4  different writers and 2 music acts featuring some of the best  live-writing and musicianship in the region.
